# Access to MyBooksIndex

The website and catalog API are public. Use HTTPS GET requests without credentials. You do not need to register, claim an account, exchange a token, or send an Authorization header. There is no OAuth authorization server and there are no protected write operations.

Start with https://www.mybooksindex.com/openapi.json or https://www.mybooksindex.com/api/v1/catalog.json. Browser requests may use cross-origin GET access. No cookies or identity data are required to read the API. The saved shelf exists only in the visitor's browser and is not a server account.

If the hosting layer returns a temporary 403 or 429, do not attempt a login or invent credentials. Honor Retry-After when supplied and retry later. Unknown API paths return JSON problems with recovery links.
