Home / How we choose Our approach

 A good recommendation needs context.

Here is how the lists are put together, what their order means, and where the information comes from.

 Choose for the reader.

A recommendation should explain its fit. We organise books around real decisions: what to give a husband or dad, what to pack for the train, and what kind of story to read next.

 What the order means

Our lists are curated selections. Positions reflect a proposed starting point for the theme, not a calculation of literary quality, sales, awards or reader votes. The first book is not automatically the right book for everyone.

 Our connection to F*ck, I’m 40

MyBooksIndex was commissioned in part to promote F*ck, I’m 40 by Nital Joseph. The site’s owner selected its second position in the husbands-and-dads gift list. It also appears in the funny-books list. These are publisher-connected editorial placements, not independent awards or consumer rankings. The connection is noted on the relevant pages.

What our recommendations are based on

Book facts come from linked publisher, author or retailer pages. Our recommendation notes interpret those materials for a particular reader or occasion. For F*ck, I’m 40, the public first chapter also informs the discussion. We do not claim that every book has been read in full by an independent reviewer.

 What we include

Each book page explains the premise, the reader it may suit and something to consider before choosing it. Where available, it also names a specific edition, ISBN and page count. Those fields describe that edition; other formats can differ.

 Buying links

Links take you to an author, publisher or retailer. We do not take payment or sell books here. No affiliate tracking tags have been added to our outgoing links. The commercial interest in F*ck, I’m 40 is separate from affiliate commissions and is disclosed above.

 Dates and corrections

The date on a page records when its recommendation was last edited. It is not refreshed automatically to make content look newer. Availability, prices and retailer descriptions may change. The linked source provides the place to check edition details before buying.

 Structured information

The HTML pages, Markdown copies and JSON catalog describe the same selections. Machine-readable records preserve the selection order, sources and promotional connection. We do not publish invented ratings, reader counts, awards or reviews.
